Located in the heart of Zagreb, just a few steps from Ban Jelačić Square, CROTASTE Kuća hrvatske hrane is a unique place where the authentic flavors of Croatian islands, Istria, and the mainland come together. Situated at Augusta Cesarca Street 5, this specialty store was created with the goal of connecting local producers with customers looking for high-quality, authentic Croatian products.
The project was launched in 2020 as a joint initiative of the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food (HAPIH), the Agro Cluster of Vukovar-Srijem County, and the Ministry of Agriculture, with the aim of giving small producers and family farms the opportunity to present their products in the heart of Zagreb.
Today, CROTASTE House of Croatian Food brings together carefully selected products from different Croatian regions — from island delicacies and traditional cured meats to wines, cheeses, and premium extra virgin olive oils. The focus is placed on products with known origin and authentic local production, making CROTASTE a modern showcase of Croatian gastronomic heritage.
Among the products enriching this gourmet selection is Kristofola extra virgin olive oil from Istria, produced from the indigenous Buža olive variety. Its balanced aromatic profile, delicate fruitiness, and elegant peppery finish naturally complement both modern gastronomy and everyday cuisine. The quality of this approach has also been recognized internationally, positioning Kristofola as an award-winning Croatian olive oil brand on the global stage.
Collaborations like this further highlight the importance of supporting local producers and preserving authentic Croatian products. CROTASTE House of Croatian Food has therefore become an essential destination for everyone looking to discover the flavors of different Croatian regions and the stories behind them.
